Your Child’s Learning Journey

If your child is secure and happy, they’ll learn
and develop to their full potential. Freckles is
about far more than childcare. Children enjoy
a well-prepared, carefully designed curriculum
encompassing Te Whāriki (our New Zealand
Early Childhood Education curriculum). From
this holistic base, we bring learning to life in
our beautiful, nature-rich environments, under
the guidance of qualified, caring teachers and
most importantly, plenty of play.

We offer a programme that celebrates
individual children’s interests and strengths
in their learning journey and development. Our teachers take time to notice your
child’s individual interests. They will communicate with you about your aspirations
for your child, and together we will create specific learning goals. The teachers will
plan experiences that will support your child to reach these goals and communicate
with you about your child’s progress.
We believe play is integral to children’s development. At Freckles, we will provide
opportunities for both structured and spontaneous experiences. We believe that
children learn and develop in a natural play-based environment where the teacher
has a respectful image of children as being competent and capable.

The teacher’s role is a co-researcher and co-constructor in the learning process,
which allows children to explore, question, reflect, problem solve, theorise and
encourages self-expression.

We acknowledge that children contribute to their own learning through the
relationships they form and experiences they have. We believe that given choice,
children will drive their own learning.

Our learning spaces are calm and unhurried. We aim to allow time for rich
conversations and opportunities for our children to grow and learn as individuals.
We provide children with the freedom to explore and make their own discoveries
whilst supporting a sense of wonder and curiosity.
